Mental Illusions

blackdots.gif
Try to count the number of black dots on the panel

How many black dots are on the square panel?

How many faces do you see in the picture to the right?

There's nothing exceptional about how we percieve visual pictures. Here's one example! Stare at the red dot on the lady's nose for 30 seconds without blinking. Then, stare off onto a blank area on a wall for 30 seconds, blinking as quickly as you can while staring at the wall. Here's just one example of how our brain perceives the things it sees. After trying this out, you'll agree it's pretty cool!

pinkdots.gif

If you follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, the dots will remain only one color; pink.
However if you stare at the black "+" in the center, the moving dots turn to green.

Now, concentrate on the black "+" in the center of the picture. After a short period, all the pink dots slowly disappear, and all you see is a single green dot rotating.

There really is no green dot, and the pink dots don't really disappear.

Hmmm? We know things aren't always black & white. Are they always pink or green?

Begin by focusing on the point in the middle of the picture. Slowly, move away from and back toward the picture.
